School Programs

Doc visits over 150 public and private schools with stories each year. His programs run from 30 minutes for Pre-K students to 45 minutes for other grades.

Remember: Your school may qualify for a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts covering up to one-half of the fee to bring Doc to your school! Call The Commission for information.

Following are some of Doc's more popular programs:

Tales the Pioneers Might Have Told. (Grades K-8) A combination of folktales, humor, and Texas history; it's one of Doc's most popular programs.

Tales from Texas History. (Grades 4 and 7) Stories from the early history of Texas, including the exploits of Jessie James, Sam Bass, James Bowie, Josiah Wilbarger, and others.

Hispanic and Native American Legends. (Grades K-8) An interesting combination of Hispanic and/or Indian Legends.

Tall Tales. (Grades 3-5) A humorous introduction to a Tall Tale unit of study including Pecos Bill, Davy Crockett, and John Henry, along with more modern Tall Tales.

Let Me Tell You About The Time...
Participants will select, write, and tell stories for appropriate grade levels within different subject areas.

Let The People Tell!
Participants will study strategies for teaching students to select, write, and tell personal stories and folktales.

Let Me Tell You An Inspirational Story!
Participants will select, write, and tell different types of stories from a variety of religious preferences, as well as stories with a moral point-of-view.

Ghost Stories - How to Find 'Em and How to Tell 'Em.
Participants will learn to locate, select, write, and tell ghost or scary folk tales for a variety of age levels.

Custom designed workshops for schools, churches, and civic groups are available upon request.

Other Presentations

Doc Moore's Great Adventure. Doc relates his experience as a heart attack survivor and how, through exercise, diet, and stress reduction, he has returned to good health. This thirty-minute program is a humorous look at how our daily habits and choices contribute to the risk of heart diseases.

Civic and Service Clubs. Doc has 20-40 minute after-dinner storytelling programs for civic, service, and retirement groups.

Texas Christmas Stories Concert. Doc Moore and Tim Tingle will present a 45-90 minute concert of Christmas Stories for your group. This is an enjoyable evening of folktales, legends, contemporary stories, and Texas humor, guaranteed to entertain you with a smile and maybe a tear.

Texas Ghost Stories Concert. Doc Moore and Tim Tingle will present a 45-90 minute Ghost Story Concert for your group. This concert will include stories from the humorous to the "deadly" serious. Neither of us has seen ghosts, but both have a great time telling their stories. This is a fun program designed for grades 5 through adult.
